Take five

“Brubeck said “you need to shake things up, challenge things rhythmically”. Challenges can make life interesting, obstacles to be overcome. Sometimes you really wish for the mundane. Another transfusion tomorrow and as much as I had tried over the past week to encourage my body to produce red blood cells, it can’t. You wake up in the morning and feel good, maybe I am not really sick, maybe I have cured myself. The blood test results brings back the sense of reality. Damn. Still waiting for the gene test results adds to the frustration of wanting to start treatment. I just want to get better. Will I get better? Reading more journal articles to predict the outcome doesn’t seem to help. Only starting treatment and retesting baseline measures will only really help.

In the meantime no exercise, so frustrating. So miss not being able to run up the trails at Mt Keira. So miss not being normal.

Woke up this morning and another beautiful day in Wollongong. Feeling quite good, despite low Hb. I realise now how difficult it must be to have a chronic illness, or to to one day be diagnosised with a serious medical condition, but again you have to be grateful for all the care and love that surrounds you.
